Due to the forecasted winter weather, there will be NO SCHOOL for Tuesday February 18, 2025. Please stay safe and warm!

This week at SMA: Middle School Night at the basketball games, Encounter, State Swimming, and Wrestling Districts!

We certainly felt the love and support of our Guardian community at this year's sold-out Guardian Bash. It was the perfect way to wrap up Catholic Schools Week and celebrate our amazing community!
Through your generosity, we were able to secure both matching gifts from Loretto Foundation for an estimated gross revenue of $501,000 for the event - the largest to date!
We are truly blessed by your support in allowing us to further our mission to Know Truth, Love God and Serve Others. A special thank you to our sponsors and Guardian Bash committee for their continued dedication!

Yesterday was the first meeting of the SMA Debate Club! Students learned about the formal debate process and participated in their first round of debate. The topic was "Are athletes paid too much?" The boys took the negative side and the girls argued the positive. After some spirited and well-thought-out arguments from both sides, the girls ended up with the victory! This is just the beginning for debate at SMA and if you're interested in joining please contact Mr. Perenich for more info.

Come cheer on the Guardians as they take on Summit Christian for Middle School Night! Free admission for all middle-schoolers with fun activities between the games. Spread the word and bring your friends!

The SMA girls swim team is headed to the MSHSAA State Swim Championship on Feb. 21-22! The team took 6th place out of 17 teams at the ILC Conference meet on Feb. 10-11.

Celebrate our seniors Friday, February 14 at Senior Night! Between the girls and boys varsity basketball games, we'll be recognizing our senior basketball, swim, cheer, and drumline athletes. Cheer them on as the Guardians take on Van Horn at home!

Due to the impending inclement weather forecasted for tonight and tomorrow, there will be NO SCHOOL on Wednesday February 12, 2025. Please stay safe and warm.

Here's what's happening this week at SMA!

We are thrilled to announce that we have hired Mark Bliss as the new coach of SMA Guardians Football! Coach Bliss has been a head coach for 28 years with a record of 213 - 84 and 4 state championships. He is a faithful Catholic, and an excellent leader of young men. We can't wait to see what next season holds!
We will be hosting a meet and greet with Coach Bliss on Thursday, February 6, in the SMA Commons. Coach Bliss is excited to meet you all and to be a part of the SMA family!

Congrats to junior Phillip Howard for reaching 1,000 career points last night against Central. Phillip was also named to the all-tournament team for the Lee’s Summit tournament and was the Eastern Jackson County male athlete of the week.

Our destination is heaven, and today, our theme is American Airlines! We kicked off Catholic Schools Week with a Chris Cakes pancake lunch. Students brought in donations to Happy Bottoms to help provide diapers to families in need and dressed in America-themed outfits. Thank you to the booster club for sponsoring the pancake lunch. We'll see everyone tomorrow for our western-themed Southwest Airlines day!

While Sr. Edith Augustine is at the March for Life, her English students get President Nulton as a sub! Today, English IV discussed Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and shared their thoughts with our President.

We are so proud of our SMA students participating in the 52nd March for Life this week! While in D.C., our students had the chance to see the capital and meet Senator Hawley. Join us in praying for the unborn and their mothers as thousands march to our nation's capital and advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves.

Be a Guardian! Join our middle school night and cheer on SMA Basketball. All middle school students get in free on February 18. Come see what being a Guardian is all about!

Congratulations to all our seniors who signed letters of intent today! We can't wait to cheer you on in your collegiate careers!
