Jim is a retired educator/coach. The school’s he served include Archbishop O’Hara High School as principal (2009-2012), William Jewel College as Director of Athletics/HPER (2002-2009), and Northwest Missouri State University as Director of Athletics/HPERD, Department Graduate Coordinator, Associate Professor, and Football Coach (1967-2001).
The educational philosophy that has always guided Jim is “Holistic Education.” That is, integrating the students in the spiritual, physical, mental, social, and emotional domains of learning.
Jim is active in his parish, the Church of the Nativity in Leawood, KS., especially as an “Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion” for “hospitals and homebound”, and by participating in multiple roles in Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP).
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Jim was blessed to receive his “Catholic Foundation” at home, with the Ursuline Sisters in elementary school, and from the Christian Brothers in high School.
His collegiate education includes: Ed. D. from Oklahoma State-Stillwater, M.S. from Colorado University-Boulder, and Business Ed. from Northwest Missouri State-Maryville.
Jim and Rosemary Marx were married for twenty-four years prior to her passing. They have three children: Renee Johnson, Paula Farris, and Matthew, and seven grandchildren.
In 2001, the Holy Spirit brought Jim and Joanne French into Holy Matrimony. Joanne is a devout Christian. She is a retired elementary educator of thirty-two years in the Hickman Mills School District.
It is an honor and privilege to serve as a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Board of Trustees as we strive to “Know Truth/Love God/Serve Others”.
