Incoming Freshmen Application & Enrollment Process

Interested in becoming a St. Michael the Archangel Guardian? You can begin the application process by creating a Parent Portal account with our online application and enrollment manager.

Step 1 – Create a Parent Portal

The first step in the application process for St. Michael is to create an SMA Parent Portal account. Once this account is created, you will be asked to add your prospective student. When your prospective student is added, you will be brought to a checklist with several items that must be completed before his/her application will be considered “complete”.

You may also utilize the Parent Portal to apply for financial aid, and schedule a tour or a Guardian for a Day!

Step 2 – High School Placement Test

St. Michael the Archangel requires all incoming Freshmen to take the High School Placement Test in order to place current eighth-grade students in the most appropriate class for the upcoming school year. The test costs $20 and will be accepted at the door during check-in. Students’ scores will be sent to families by mail, and course recommendations based on this test and students’ grades and teacher recommendations will be made available on 8th Grade Enrollment Night on March 4, 2021.

This test is required for all incoming Freshmen, however students will not be denied admittance based on test results. Free HSPT prep classes will also be offered November 11 & 12. More details to come!

Our available test dates are:

  • Saturday, December 5, 2020, 9:00am – 12:30pm
  • Saturday, January 9, 2021, 9:00am – 12:30pm

Step 3 – Records Release Form

All prospective students must have a signed Records Release Form on file so the St. Michael registrar can obtain records from the prospective student’s school. The easiest way to ensure your Records Release Form is on file with SMA is to log into your Parent Portal, download the PDF from the “Records Release Form” checklist item, print off the form and fill in the appropriate information, and upload a scanned copy of the completed form to the same checklist item using the blue “upload” button at the top of the checklist line.

Step 4 – The Enrollment Process

Accepted students will receive an acceptance letter in the mail. An email with instructions on how to enroll will follow. Parents will need to return to the Parent Portal to complete the tuition contract, pay the registration fee, set up a tuition payment plan, and sign various agreements and releases.
