How to Become a Guardian

Step 1: Learn about St. Michael the Archangel (options below) 

    • Sign up for Guardian for a Day.  Current 8th grade students are invited to shadow a current SMA Student Ambassador. They will spend the day attending classes, meeting other students, enjoy a hot lunch, have fun in Community time, and attend Mass. This is the perfect way for a students to “feel” what it’s like to be a Guardian! Click below to sign up!
    • Take a Personal Tour. Did you miss our Open House in October? We invite you to sign up for an individual family tour. Walk the halls and learn about all the areas that make St. Michael the Archangel a special place. You will hear about our academics, Community system, faith formation, athletics and clubs. SMA is loaded with opportunities for every student! Click below to find a time that suits your schedule!
    • Attend a sporting event on Middle School Night.  Come experience the Guardian spirit at one of our designated Middle School Nights.  Your family will receive free entrance into the game.  Winter sports dates will be announced soon!

Step 2 – Apply to St. Michael the Archangel

 #1 – COMPLETE AN APPLICATION. Its FREE to apply! We will begin accepting applications for the 2022-2023 school year on October 11. The first of three steps in the admissions process is to complete a no-cost application for St. Michael the Archangel by creating an SMA Parent Portal account (below).  A checklist of admissions items will need to be completed before his/her application will be considered for acceptance to St. Michael. Acceptance letters are typically sent to families in December or within 2 weeks of when the checklist is complete.

#2 – RECORDS RELEASE FORM – All prospective students must have a signed Records Release Form on file so the St. Michael registrar can obtain records from the prospective student’s school. You may download the PDF from the “Records Release Form” checklist item in your Parent Portal, print off the form and fill in the appropriate information, and upload a scanned copy of the completed form to the same checklist item using the blue “upload” button at the top of the checklist line. #3 – High School Placement Test (HSPT). St. Michael the Archangel requires all incoming Freshmen to take the HSPT in order to place current eighth-grade students in the most appropriate class for the upcoming school year. The test costs $20 and can be paid online HERE. Students’ scores will be sent to families by email. St. Michael uses the test results to place incoming students in the appropriate classes their freshman year. Preferred test date is Saturday, December 11, 2021.  If you cannot make the test in December, another HSPT will be administered on Saturday, January 8, 2021.

*High School Placement Test PREP CLASS is offered for FREE for those taking the HSPT at St. Michael! The Prep Class will be held Tuesday, November 30 from 6-8 PM.  Click HERE to register!


Step 3 – The Enrollment Process

ENROLLMENT WILL OPEN IN FEBRUARY, 2022. Students who desire to attend SMA, will need to have already been accepted after completing the application checklist. The accepted students will receive an acceptance letter in the mail. An email to the parents will be sent with instructions on how to enroll through the Parent Portal. Parents will be asked to complete the tuition contract, pay the registration fee, set up a tuition payment plan through FACTS, sign various agreements/releases.
