Flat Bishop Johnston Contest

To celebrate Catholic Schools Week this year our diocesan schools will focus on “Growing God’s Family”.  To do this, the Catholic Schools office (CSO) is asking each student/family to take a photo with Flat  Bishop Johnston.  Photos should include the family and Flat Bishop doing something together, preferably  faith related.  Email the photo to Photos will only  be accepted until January 30th at noon.  Only one photo per student will be  accepted. Multiple students in one family can be submitted in one photo/email, be sure to list all  student names and grades in the email.  See attached for details: Rules for Contest.  Download and print a copy of  FLAT BISHOP.  The school with the highest percentage of students participating will receive a special visit from Bishop Johnston who will award the school an extra day off school!


Monday, Jan 27 – Silver Day – Community Appreciation Day 

  • House Activity: All School Mass with Bishop Johnston at 10:20 am. Everyone invited
  • Dress: Community T-Shirt or Community colors with uniform bottoms. (Community T’s for Catholic Schools Week $12-$15)
  • Additional Activity – Community Saint Fun Facts posted throughout the building on monitors.  Pay attention, as these might appear later.


Tuesday, Jan 28 – Navy Day – Student Appreciation Day 

  • House Activity: Write Teacher Notes
  • Dress: Free Student Dress Down (within guidelines – no ripped jeans, leggings, or shorts) 
  • Additional Activity – Enjoy a donut in the morning as you come to school
  • SMILE Mass @ 8AM  


Wednesday, Jan 29 – Green Day – Scholar Appreciation Day

  • House Activity #1: Teacher Kahoot
  • House Activity #2: Cuts for Cancer in the gym 
  • Dress: School – Grade School, High School, College


Thursday, Jan 30 – Navy Day – Vocation Appreciation Day 

  • House Activity: Write letters to parents to appreciate the vocation of marriage and family life. (We give students envelopes and have them address the envelopes in House.) 
  • Dress: Black and/or white with uniform bottoms 


Friday, Jan 31 – Green Day – SMA Appreciation Day 

  • House Activity – Eucharistic Procession through school
  • Dress: SMA gear with uniform bottoms OR Chiefs Shirt with uniform bottoms 


Out of Uniform Guidelines

Any student not wishing to participate in the theme for the day must be in regular SMA uniform.

Students must wear school uniform bottoms every day, except for Tuesday, unless they have a pass.


$5 Seminarian Pass

Students may wear jeans/sweats (no leggings, shorts, or ripped jeans) from Tuesday through Friday for a $5 fee. All money collected will be donated to support the education and formation of the diocesan seminarians. Money will be collected during House on Tuesday, passes will be distributed then as well.
